Due to last weeks PR I was unable to run my long run on Saturday. I ended up injuring my right leg. Got a pretty bad shin splint that caused me to lay off the leg for about a week. I can now walk around and lightly jog with no problem, so Thursday (tomorrow) I am going to do a light 3 just to get my legs back into the program.
I notice as soon as I get insyc with my training and I get an injury I have to work twice as hard to motivate myself to get out there and continue. I am having a little bit of a problem motivating myself. What are some of your ways you motivate yourself to get out and run either after an injury or if you don't feel like running? Please I can use all the help you can give me

I tried to post this yesterday, but Blogger was being far from cooperative. Anyway...
For me, I just want to get out there and run. Maybe you need to find yourself a new trail, somewhere that you can just get down to and enjoy. Wear your running gear, move to the front, and just start heading out. If you walk a little at first, that's fine - I'd bet that you'd start picking it up though, just for the fun of it. Do you have somewhere with a soft surface and a bunch of runners by any chance? Or maybe a beautiful park that you haven't been to in a while? Often, one really great run is all that you need to get going.
On the shin splint front, are you doing strength work yet to help correct those?
Thanks for the advice. I haven't started weight/strength training. Mainly becuae i am new to that sort of thing and don't know where to start. I do however have a gym membership. I think i will start using it. Can you recomend any exercise that would benefit my shin splints?
Absolutely! What you need to do is to strengthen the muscle that runs along the front of your shin. It gets pretty out of whack as your calves get stronger. To do this, you basically need to be pulling up with your foot - moving the ankle - against some weight.
At the gym, if you're lucky, you'll find a machine that's about 8" high and deep by 18" wide. You put your foot into it and move it up and down - there are weights on either side. At my gym, its labeled "Tibia". Its relatively uncommon, at least here.
At home, you can emulate this by sitting on a chair (or the counter) where your leg can dangle freely. Hook a plastic grocery bag over your toes, with some weight in it, and moving at the ankle you raise and lower the bag a few inches. As always, start with low weight and work upward.
You can also check out the list under "Tibialis Anterior here for some more choices. I hadn't seen this until you asked, and many of them look interesting and easy to do - I haven't tried 'em yet though. So thank you for the inspiration!
